What is fear and anxiety?

Do you find yourself feeling fearful and anxious, even when you know there's nothing really to worry about? Are these feelings holding you back from doing what you want in life? Hypnosis can help!

Feeling anxious is a normal response to stress or danger and is often called the ‘flight or fight’ response. This is where adrenalin gets pumped through the body enabling it to cope with whatever catastrophe may come its way. The problems arise when this response is out of proportion to the actual danger of the situation, or indeed is generated when there is no danger present at all!

The physical symptoms of anxiety can be:

  • Racing heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness
  • Dry mouth
  • Butterflies in stomach
  • Nausea
  • Urge to pass urine/empty bowels
  • Tremor
  • Sweating
  • Pins and needles

The psychological symptoms of anxiety are:

  • Inner tension
  • Agitation
  • Fear of losing control
  • Dread that something catastrophic is going to happen
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of detachment

Feeling anxious can affect us all in different ways, but as you can see from the list of common symptoms and feeling, none are particularly nice to experience regularly, so if you’re identifying with these symptoms, and action is needed to take control back.

You’re not alone – anxiety & fear disorders are very common

In any given week, around one adult in six will experience or be identified with the symptoms of a common mental health problem such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder and common mental disorders not otherwise specified.

But knowing this doesn’t make it any easier to live with, and without addressing these feeling they can spiral out of control.

When fear & anxiety becomes a habit

Like anything you do repetitively, feeling afraid and uneasy can become a habit. There may have been times in your past when you've had genuine reasons to feel frightened about what might happen to you, but somehow this feeling has stuck with you and is now applying itself to lots of situations where it doesn't belong.

Because fear feeds on itself, it grows ever bigger by focusing on how bad things “could get rather than what the reality is, and without being put back in its place it can end up taking over your life.

Hypnosis can break the habit

Here's how your hypnotherapy course will work

Once you’ve purchased your hypnotherapy courses, you’ll be sent a link via email or you can access your videos by logging into “my account” located on the menu bar.

Get yourself comfortable and make sure you won’t be disturbed. Turn off all mobile devices, radio and other distractions where possible. It’s important to set aside 1 hour of quiet time, this will allow you to immerse yourself into the session.

For maximum relaxation, we recommend you find somewhere quiet to lay down, but if you would rather sit in an armchair, it’s important to make sure your head and neck are properly supported.

Please try to use a speaker wherever possible rather than headphones, as these may distract you from the session if they become uncomfortable.
